HEP Templates can be a great option to help you work faster and stay consistent. Templates are already built programs, either built by you, others in your organization, or Medbridge. This article explains how to create HEP templates from a program and use them with patients.
This article focuses on actions performed in the HEP Builder. For editing, deleting, or sharing templates with colleagues, see How do I manage HEP templates?
Create a new template
- Open the HEP Builder (Classic) or Patient Care, then HEP, then Builder (Medbridge Care).
- Add exercises and patient education to a new program.
- Adjust exercise parameters, notes, and language settings as needed.
- Select Save as Template.
- Enter a descriptive template name. Reminder: Do not include PHI. Select Save as New Template.
Tip: If you want to save the program as a regular program (not as a reusable template), select Save instead of Save as Template.
Use a template with a patient
- While building a patient's HEP, go to the Templates tab.
-
Browse template categories on the left: All Templates, Medbridge Templates, My Templates, My Practice’s Templates, and Favorite Templates.
- Use search or filters to find the template you need.
- Select the + icon to apply the template to the current program.
- After you apply a template, its exercises and education appear in the Current Program.
- After you apply a template, its exercises and education appear in the Current Program.
- Edit program details if needed, then Save to save this new program as their HEP. You can read more about creating an HEP here.
Tip: Use the heart icon to favorite a template for faster access later.
Notes and best practices
- Use clear, searchable names, for example “Shoulder Post-op Phase 1.”
- Keep templates general and remove patient-specific details.
- Favoriting frequently used templates makes them faster to find in the Templates tab.
