In a previous video, we showed you how to help Jim log in to his Medbridge GO account. Now that he’s all set up, he’s ready to access his program from home.
Using Medbridge GO, he can watch exercises and log activity, communicate with his provider, and stay engaged with reminders and gamification features like streaks and achievements.
First, let’s look at how Jim can watch his exercises and log activity so you can answer any questions he might have.
When he first logs in, Jim can tap the GO button to start a playlist of his exercises. He can deselect any exercises he doesn’t want to perform today or reorder exercises to the order that works best for him. Once he presses “start exercise videos,” Medbridge GO will walk him through every set and rep of his exercise program, just as you assigned it to him. When he follows along with his exercises, Jim’s activity is automatically recorded so you can see exactly what exercises he performed at home.
Once he completes his playlist, he’ll be prompted to provide feedback by confirming how many sets and reps he performed. He can also let you know if he experienced any pain or difficulty, which will also be visible to you on the patient profile. This provides you with data you can use to update Jim’s program, help him through his rehab, and build a stronger therapeutic alliance. Encourage your patients to provide feedback to you as often as they can.
Back on the home screen, Jim can also log activity without watching his exercises. This is a great way for him to continue providing feedback once he’s mastered how to do his exercises.
He can also view the patient education you assigned him by tapping the Program icon and scrolling to the bottom.
Now, let’s look at how Jim can communicate with you between visits.
If Jim has a question about his program, he can select the message tab to reach out to you directly. He can tap the plus icon to start a new conversation, either sending you a general message or a message about a specific exercise. You and any other members of the care team will be notified via email and within the Medbridge platform each time he sends a message.
You can also send Jim a message directly, and he can respond to that message here. If he has any unread messages, he’ll see a red dot on the messages tab when he has the app open. He can also opt into push notifications, text messages, or emails for additional reminders about new messages.
Messages are a great way to keep your patients engaged, so encourage patients to reach out regularly. And when you respond to these messages promptly, your patients know you are invested and they’ll be more likely to keep up with their program.
Finally, let’s look at how gamification can keep Jim motivated and engaged.
From the home screen, Jim can see at a glance if he has recently completed his exercises. If he taps the activity tab, he can look at achievements and work towards improving his exercise adherence streak.
Reminders can also help keep patients on track with their rehab. To set these up, Jim heads to the settings menu in the upper right corner, and selects Reminders. Here, push notifications can be scheduled for specific times on certain days of the week. Taking a couple minutes to set this up can help Jim remember to complete his exercises and increase program adherence.
While we’ve covered a lot of ground in this video, that just scratches the surface of what a patient can do with Medbridge GO. We encourage you to test out the app by assigning yourself or a colleague a program so you can feel confident answering any patient's questions as they come in.
